Security Engineering

CHRONOS Systems approach to securing our customers environment revolves around preserving the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad) of data in our customer’s environment. We perform Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) services to:

  • Review of system documentation
  • Scan networks and identify security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Review Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) to mitigate security issues
  • Respond to Incidents involving security breaches

CHRONOS has provided these services in government environments, (classified and unclassified) and commercial environments.

Project Management
Services

CHRONOS follows established industry management practices. CHRONOS management processes conform to the Project Management Institutes (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) that incorporate Agile project management processes and procedures.

Cloud Migration
Services

CHRONOS provides support to customers that are migrating resources to the cloud. We work with our customers to perform a business process analysis to identify business processes that would benefit from migration to a cloud architecture. We then perform an economic and security engineering analyses to determine what architecture provides greatest economic return while limiting the security risk. We then seamlessly implement the agreed upon architectural solution.

Network Operations

CHRONOS Systems is a known and trusted name when it comes to Network Operations and Maintenance Services for Commercial and Federal Government clients. We have supported United States Government data centers in both classified and unclassified environments. We successfully consolidated five stove piped domains into a single Enterprise Domain for the Department of Defense with no disruption to some 5,000 users. Consolidation included establishing a single Enterprise Program Management Office, eliminating duplicate services and hardware, creating an Enterprise Security Engineering group to improve the overall security posture of the network, and combining five independent help desks into a single enterprise service desk. Consolidation resulted in a 40% reduction in operating costs for our client.

Facilities Operations
Support

CHRONOS Systems provides visitor control, Homeland Security Presidential 12 (HSPD-12) credentials issuance and Virginia Criminal Identification Network (VCIN) background investigations for all Pentagon and Mark Center civilian, military and contractor staff requiring access to the Pentagon and Mark Center.

For 15 years CHRONOS has provided staff to the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) to:

  • Issue Pentagon Identification Credentials (Pentagon Facilities Alternative Credential (PFAC), Common Access Cards (CAC), and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards)
  • Control Access to the Pentagon by providing staff at each location in the Pentagon and Mark Center to screen visitor’s identification, run background check and issue the proper temporary visitor credential
  • Perform background checks on every civilian, military, and contractor staff requiring access to the Pentagon and Mark Center

Records Management
Support Services

The United States government requires all Federal Agencies to electronically preserve federal records in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) guidelines. This requires all federal agencies to manage all email and electronic files on network drives in accordance with NARA guidelines, agency file plans and retention policies. It also requires agencies to convert paper documentation into electronic format suitable for eventual transfer to NARA for historical preservation.

CHRONOS Systems provides Records Management support services to:

  • Convert paper records into electronic format
  • Create file plans for government organizations
  • Organize records in accordance with the organizations file plan
  • Transfer or destroy records in accordance with an agency’s retention schedule

CHRONOS developed a network appliance that reviews, sorts, organizes and indexes email according to an Agencies file plan. The algorithm we developed conforms to NARA requirements.

  • The appliance works seamlessly and requires little to no user intervention
  • It manages email in accordance with NARA’s Capstone guidance
  • It does not remove email from the users mailbox
  • It preserves email header information as it was originally delivered
  • It automatically Indexes the data for search and retrieval
  • The records are stored in a role-based SharePoint repository

A variation of this algorithm can be applied to file shares and storage location to identify, copy and store electronic records on file shares and other network locations.
